The day will start at 10:00 at The Old School House, Sutton Waldron, home of a EBTS UK member, David Milanes. Over coffee/tea he will tell us about the progress he has made in establishing his new garden and his plans for the future, which include box and topiary.
Next, we will visit The Old Rectory, Sturminster Newton, a short drive away. The five-acre garden has been beautifully restored and has been featured in ‘Country Life’. Of particular interest to members will be the yew hedging enclosing the flower garden and the now well established knot garden.
Lunch with wine or soft drinks will be taken at a nearby pub.
The garden for the afternoon will be another ‘Country Life’ featured garden, that of The Old Rectory, Pulham. Here we will see four acres of formal and informal gardens. Of special note are the box parterres and the pleached hornbeam circle. There are also ten acres with woodland walks.
The day will end, after a home-made tea with cakes, at 17:00.
