Tuesday 16th July 2019
The day will start at The Prebendal Manor at Nassington, with its award winning reconstruction of a medieval garden. Refreshments will be provided on arrival.
Next we visit Elton Hall, near Peterborough. The gardens were first laid out in the 1670’s but have been completely revitalised over the last 35 years. The topiary is magnificent. Our guide will be the new Head Gardener, Rob Kett (formally of Wyken Hall Gardens, Suffolk), who will show us the formal gardens followed by private gardens not normally open to the public.
After lunch at a pub in the village of Elton we visit Rockingham Castle, famous for its vast 400 year old ‘Elephant Hedge’ and views over the Welland valley. Cream tea will be taken at Walker’s House at the castle.
